What Are Neodymium Magnets
Neodymium magnets, also known as Rare Earth magnets, are probably one of the most used type of magnets. Rare Earth magnets are made from alloy of neodymium, iron, and boron. This 3 alloys together abbreviated as NIB.
Neodymium magnets were invented by Sagawa Masato of Sumitomo Special Metals in 1982, Sumitomo Special Metals successfully developed the powder metallurgy process, and General Motors successfully developed the, melt spinning process. Both companies can prepare the Neodymium magnets.

- Resistance to Demagnetization: Neodymium magnets do not demagnetize easily over time. This makes them great to use for a long period without the magnets losing their magnetic properties.
- Temperature Sensitivity: Neodymium magnets being very powerful does have a negative effect when it comes to heat, standard grade Neodymium magnets have a maximum operating temperature of 80 degrees Celsius, before losing irrecoverable magnetic performance.
- Corrosion Susceptibility: Neodymium magnets are prone to oxidation and corrosion. They are often coated with protective layers of nickel, zinc, or epoxy to alleviate this issue.

Grades:
Neodymium magnets are available in various grades, the different grades have different magnetic strengths. The most common grades are N35, N38, N42, N52, etc. The number represents the magnetic strengths of the magnets, higher numbers indicate stronger magnets. Magnets are measured in Gauss with a Gauss meter.
